30 SMPIHM students visit turtle centre




Thirty students from Pengiran Isteri Hajah Mariam Secondary School (SMPIHM) conducted a study visit to the Turtle Management and Conservation Centre at Jalan Pantai Serasa, Muara.

The group was led by Azrin bin Hj Tunjang, Awg Misli bin Hj Moksin and Dk Rohana binti Pg Ahmad Damit.

During the visit, the group was briefed on the importance of conserving threathened species such as turtles, and on the techniques to preserve turtles.

The group also expressed their gratitude towards the hard work and dedication given by the centre's staff in preserving the threatened species.

Students were given the opportunity to hold the turtles themselves, as well as take photos.

The visit was aimed at creating awareness to the students about turtles being one of the most endangered species and threatened towards extinction.

Visit to Turtle Rehabilitation Centre





The Teacher's Activity Section of the PIHM Secondary School recently organised a visit to the Turtle Rearing and Rehabilitation Centre, Fisheries Department, Ministry of Industry and Primary Resources at Jalan Pantai Serasa, Muara.

The visit was aimed at inculcating love of the environment and supporting the government in protecting the turtles.

During the visit, the delegation learnt about the importance of protecting endangered species such as turtles.

The Brunei waters are one of the turtles migratory areas rich with its natural coral reefs.

The visitors were given the chance to get close with the turtles by touching and holding the sea creatures and acknowledged the hard work and dedication of the centre's staff in protecting the endangered species.

Also present during the visit was the principal of the school Madam Lim Siew King, deputy principal Hj Said bin Hj Md Salleh, education officers, teachers and their family members led by Hj Azrin bin Hj Tunjang, Awg Misli bin Hj Moksin and Dk Rohana bte Pg Ahmad Damit.
