Counsellors to implement eight projects in 2010


The Counselling and Career Guidance Section under the Department of School, Ministry of Education yesterday held a meeting with school counsellors at the Katok Sixth Form Centre.

The day opened with a surah al-fatihah reading led by Haji Suhut bin Haji Sahat, the counsellor of Sekolah Menengah Masin.

Later, Counselling and Career Guidance Section Acting Head Hajah Gambar binti Haji Gapor spoke about the eight projects scheduled for implementation in 2010 by school counsellors.

These include the Peer Guidance Course (PRS), Anti-Drugs Act Group, Career Success Room as well as the Staff Development Programme.

Following the speech, teacher Ali Yusri bin Abdul Ghafor touched on the competitions in the Anti-Drug Act Group and the Forum for the Prevention of Drug Abuse and Education programme which will be implemented next year.

This programme will involve seven government agents: the Self-Counseling Section, Narcotics Control Bureau, Health Promotion and Education section, Department of Community Development, Islamic Dakwah Centre, Public Relations Section (from the Royal Brunei Police Force) and the Prisons Department.
